Privacy policy

Last updated October 11, 2026.

1. Introduction

BMI Insights respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you visit the site, and your rights under the law.

2. What we collect

We may collect, use, store and transfer these kinds of personal data about you:

  • Identity data: name, username or similar identifier.
  • Contact data: email address and telephone number.
  • Technical data: IP address, login data, browser type and version, time zone and location, plug-ins, operating system and device details.
  • Usage data: how you use the site and its services.
  • Health data: weight, height, age, gender and similar details you enter to use the calculators. We do not store this permanently on our servers. What you type is kept in your browser until you close the tab (your unit choices, such as kg or lbs, are remembered on your device for next time). If you ask for AI tips or recipes, see section 4.

3. How we use it

Only where the law allows, most commonly:

  • to provide the calculations you request;
  • to improve the site, our services, marketing or customer relationships;
  • to comply with legal or regulatory obligations.

4. AI tips and recipes

These are optional and only run when you press Get health tips or Suggest recipes. We then send the details needed to write them — your BMI and category; your activity level, diet and fitness goal selections; and, if you entered them, your gender, age range and medical conditions — to Google's Gemini service, which generates the text under Google's API terms. Your name, email and exact age are not sent.

To answer identical requests quickly, our server keeps each request (including those details) and its answer in memory — never on disk — for up to one hour. To prevent abuse, your IP address is held in memory to count your requests over the last minute. Expired entries are deleted the next time the AI service is used, and everything is cleared when the server restarts.

5. Hosting logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Google Cloud) keeps standard request logs — including IP address, browser type and the page requested — for a limited period, for security and troubleshooting.

6. Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

7. Cookies

You can set your browser to refuse some or all cookies, or to alert you when they are set or accessed. If you do, parts of the site may not work properly.

8. Third-party links

The site may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications. Clicking those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their privacy statements.
